PRAYER

We believe prayer builds our relationship with God and opens us to his leading. This calls us to complete dependence on God through adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication – humble requests to the One who hears and answers prayer.

I pray that…you may know…his incomparably great power for us who believe.  That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead… Eph. 1:18-20

Congregational Prayer

As part of the 10:30 morning worship, on the fourth Sunday of each month the corporate Prayer of God’s People is offered by a member of the congregation. Please contact the church office if you wish to serve in this way.

Prayer Team Ministry

A team of a church elder and a congregation member are available after each morning worship service to pray with those who desire prayer for personal concerns or joys. If you would like to serve as a team member, contact the office. Training is available.

Prayer Chain Email

Our desire is to have all members and regular attenders receive email prayer requests so that needs, joys and sorrows will be lifted in prayer by the entire worshiping community.  Contact the office (office@shermanstreetchurch.org) to be added to the email prayer chain.

Classis Prayer

Join at noon to meet for an hour of prayer at a sister church from Classis Grand Rapids East on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Call the office for details. Pastor and staff members of the church share about the ministry and needs of the congregation followed by group prayer.

Called to be a holy priesthood (1 Peter 2:5), we encourage all to grow in the practice of asking if we may pray with friends and acquaintances and intercede for a need they have expressed.
