Who will join our mission?
Here at Sherman Street Christian Reformed Church, we seek to be a living testimony of God’s grace and justice in the city. We seek to be a place where people of all colors and cultures, rich and poor, saved and seeking, are changed together as disciples of Jesus Christ.
And now we’re seeking a pastor to join us on this exciting mission at 1000 Sherman Street in the Baxter neighborhood of southeast Grand Rapids. One small corner of a very big world, and the place to which God has called us.
Who We Are
To learn more about who we are and what we’re about, you’ll want to read our mission and vision as well as a bit about our history. If you’ve never worshipped with us before, here’s some of what you can expect and a glimpse of our ministries throughout the week. Some of these ministries are evolving in light of our mission discovery process as we discern where God is calling us next. You can also read our church profile (based on the CRCNA form).
We’re not just one living testimony, we’re also many living testimonies. Some of our stories were recently captured in our Voices of our Community project. If you really want to get to know us, check out the photos and audio recordings.
Our Pastor Search Process
Our senior pastor has become our overseas missionary, helping with the refugee crises in Germany. On an interim basis, Rev. Don Klop has joined us as our shepherding pastor and Rev. Jack Roeda as our preaching pastor.
We are currently inviting nominations and accepting applications for someone to work alongside us in carrying out our calling. We are seeking a lead pastor to work as part of a pastoral team.
Know someone who might be a good fit for our church?
Please suggest their name and why you think they’d be a good fit.
Are you a pastor in the Christian Reformed Church (or Reformed Church in America) who resonates with our mission?
We’d love to hear from you. Please email a letter of interest along with your resume/CV/profile. If available, please include links to sermon audio/video samples.
Applications or questions can be emailed to the chair of our Transition Team, Todd Dornbos, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are praying in hopeful expectation of what God will do through this search process. We can’t wait to find out who God has in mind.
