Sherman Street’s 18 month Mission Discovery Process began in the summer of 2013. The goal was to learn how to do a better job of living out our mission of being “a living testimony of God’s grace and justice in the city.”

The Mission Discovery Team led this discovery process by conducting surveys, interviews, gift assessments and more, in both our church bodies and in our neighborhood. In the spring of 2015 the team presented council with a ministry action plan that 1) takes account of all that was learned and 2) utilizes the resources of our churches and our neighborhood as we learn how to care for each other and build true community.

In December of 2013, the Mission Discovery Team produced a short report outlining the findings of the 2013 congregational survey. The first version of the Mission Discovery Action Plan was completed in April, 2015 and can be found here.

The Action Plan was revised in 2019 to reflect changes in our congregation. A shortened version of the plan was also created.
