Social Justice Committee
The goal of the Social Justice Committee is to engage the Sherman Street Church community on social justice issues. Meeting regularly, the group discusses and plans education sessions on issues such as poverty, hunger, racism, and housing.
There are a variety of small groups at Sherman Street, from general fellowship groups to groups formed around an activity (e.g. movie watching). Periodically there are openings for new members, and we encourage new groups to form as well. If you are interested in joining a small group, look for the small groups’ brochure that comes out in September or contact the church office. In the winter we plan “Mini Small Groups” which meet for a few weeks around a specific topic. These groups, which range in topic from communion to bowling, are a great way to get to know others better and learn something new!
Monday Evening Friendship Group
A community of worship, fellowship and mentoring for adults with intellectual disabilities. The group meets two Mondays a month at 7 pm. For more information, please contact the church office.
Wednesday Morning Bible Study
Wednesday Morning Women’s Bible study meets at the church most Wednesday mornings at 9 am. The study is designed to provide an opportunity for women to grow in God, to connect on a deeper level, and to support each other as sisters in Christ. The meetings consist of a Bible study and discussion, as well as a time of sharing and prayer. The Bible study is open to any woman who desires to grow in her faith and to connect deeply with other women. Childcare is available for children ages 0-5.
Wednesday Afternoon Bible Study
Small group meets every 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at the church at 2:00 pm for Bible study and prayer. New members are welcome to join at any point in the year.
